Wood graining and marbling are traditional crafts
with some of the earliest known examples carried out three thousand
years ago in Egypt.
Prism Decor has an expert team of craftsmen who carry out the imitation
of woods and marbles in a time honoured and traditional way. We
are regularly commissioned to paint doors in English Oak, Mahogany
and Walnut. Although, an Interior Designer recently commissioned
us to grain a piece of furniture in a fantasy wood of cobalt blue!
We were involved in the restoration of graining and marbling in
the Queens House at Greenwich, which is part of the National Maritime
Museum. The museum is open to the public and our work is on display.
Here are photographs of a fibrous column, which has been marbled
to imitate Cararra marble the one preferred by Michelangelo
for much of his work. Also is a console table that has had the top
painted to imitate Sienna marble.
These are just a few examples but the versatility of paint gives
one infinity of choice. |
